Submission on Fee Levels to be Established under the Licensing Act 2003

Thursday 23 December 2004, 4:30 PM

The Licensing Act 2003 gives the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport the power to make regulations prescribing the amount of fees payable to licensing authorities. DCMS is consulting on the level of these fees and the Tourism Alliance has sent in a submission that, while supporting the underlying principles of cost recovery and equity, opposes the proposed fees for large events of a temporary nature. These fees (up to £50,000 per event) are unjustifiable and threaten the viability of many events.
