Package Travel Directive Policy Statement

Wednesday 04 September 2013, 3:18 PM

The Package Travel Directive exists to protect people travelling overseas. However, small domestic tourism businesses selling value-added products (ie.,accommodation with a ticket to a show) have to comply with the legislation even though no travel is being provided. Exempting these businesses from the legislation would provide an increase in domestic tourism of up to 27%, creating 74,000 local jobs for the UK economy.
